Bonus points if you can guess the car
UPDATE: A winner has been found
It is the almighty Ford Ka with all of 60hp.

Some sort of Ford?
EDIT: I was thinking Focus, but it seems like a Ka (yes, I cheated to confirm my suspicions. Sue me.)

137 isn't that optimistic for most modern cars.

Ford Ka. Was thinking Focus, but seemed too European. Used Google Images to confirm my suspicions. Yes, I am a dirty cheater.

The Golf Mk4 1.6 had a 260km/h speedo.
I just wonder what makes OEMs put these in their cars.

Pretty much yes, these things were not exactly one of Fords high points in terms of engineering and durability. OHV engine in a European car? In 2001? Only Ford.

Well a speedo that goes all the way to a 100mph does not exactly give you a feeling of excitement ...other than that, cost saving. Just give every car the speedometer of the fastest model.

Essentially, they're a cut-down mid '90s Fiesta with all the positives and negatives that come with that. They handle well, are cramped, noisy and uncomfortable even by '90s supermini standards (the base model rental car I caught a lift in once had the worst seats of any car I've ever been in and I include the Lada my uncle owned in the '90s in that), have the old 1.3 Valencia engine (the final evolution of the Kent from the '50s) rather than the then-new 1.25/1.4 Zetec engines in the Fiesta and they rust even worse than the rest of Ford's '90s lineup. In fact, I think the Ka was probably the worst thing available when it comes to rusting from any manufacturer at the time.
There is absolutely zero reason to buy one instead of the Fiesta it's based on (which was genuinely good in pretty much all areas) other than it's slightly cheaper and looks cute. So of course they sold massive numbers of the things.

I recall James May racing one against ... a pigeon? Can't remember his gripes.
